Kate Stokes of North Ridge Stud with new arrival NRS D’amalfi
North Ridge Stud is a family owned boutique stud, with a focus on breeding competitive Warmblood show jumpers and eventers. Working with proven European bloodlines, stallions are selected for their athleticism, temperament and trainability to complement the strengths of North Ridge Stud’s mares.
Situated on a beautiful 50 acre coastal property north of Clevedon village in Auckland, the purpose-built facilities have been carefully thought out to optimise daily operations and provide an enhanced environment for training and care.
We first met the Stokes family in 2016. The project started out as a truck storage barn, and progressed to the design and build of a four bedroom barn-style home with integrated garaging and stables that would become the home of North Ridge Stud. A GGT fibre and sand arena was installed to provide a quality surface to work the horses on. Ancillary barns were built to store farm equipment and hay, all consistent with the aesthetic of the main home.
Award-winning style
The main barn residence was awarded Gold at the 2018 Master Builders House of the Year awards, along with the regional lifestyle award for sustainability excellence.
New Stable Complex
As North Ridge Stud’s operation grows, we’ve had the pleasure of continuing to work with Kate to design and build a new stable complex completed in early 2025. The new six stable block provides a safe and functional space to work with mares, foals and sport horses.
